Philip B. Simon
, Chairman. Mr. Simon is President of Lawrence Investments, LLC, a privately owned investment firm specializing in technology focused private equity investments. Lawrence Investments is the parent company of one of Quark’s major investors, Tako Ventures, LLC. Mr. Simon serves on the board of directors of several private companies affiliated with Lawrence Investments, LLC. Mr. Simon is also a CPA and has more than 20 years experience consulting on tax and business matters. Prior to joining Lawrence Investments, LLC in 1997, Mr. Simon worked full time for 16 years as a partner in Howson & Simon CPAs L.P. Mr. Simon holds an A.B. from Yale University and a J.D. from Stanford Law School. He is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Joseph Rubinfeld, Ph.D. Vice-Chairman. Joseph Rubinfeld, Ph.D. co-founded SuperGen in 1991. He has served as Chief Executive Officer, President and a director of the Company since its inception and was Chief Scientific Officer from inception until September 1997. Dr. Rubinfeld was one of the four initial founders of Amgen, Inc. in 1980 and served as Vice President and Chief of Operations until 1983. From 1987 to 1990, he was a Senior Director at Cetus Corporation. From 1968 to 1980, Dr. Rubinfeld was employed at Bristol-Myers Company International Division ("Bristol-Myers") in a variety of positions, most recently as Vice President and Director of Research and Development. While at Bristol-Myers, Dr. Rubinfeld was instrumental in licensing the original anticancer line of products for Bristol-Myers, including Mitomycin, Etoposide, and Bleomycin as well as development of Amoxicillin and Cephadroxil. Prior to that time, Dr. Rubinfeld was a research scientist with several pharmaceutical and consumer product companies including Schering-Plough Corporation and Colgate-Palmolive Co. Dr. Rubinfeld is a member of the Board of Directors of AVI BioPharma, Inc. He received his B.A. in chemistry from C.C.N.Y., and his M.A. and Ph.D. in chemistry from Columbia University. Dr. Rubinfeld has numerous patents and publications on a wide range of inventions and developments including the 10-second developer for Polaroid film, manufacture of cephalosporins and the first commercial synthetic biodegradable detergent. In 1984, Dr. Rubinfeld received the Common Wealth Award for Invention.

Daniel Zurr PhD, CEO, Founder and Director, former President of Plantex Ikapharm (currently part of the Teva Group). Dr. Daniel Zurr founded Quark in 1993 and is currently CEO of the Company. Dr. Zurr also currently serves as a Director of QBI. Dr. Zurr has vast experience in senior research and business management in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Prior to establishing QBI, Dr. Zurr was the CEO of Plantex-Ikapharm, then the second largest pharmaceutical company in Israel with more than 300 employees and marketing offices in the United States, Europe and Japan, focused in the field of bulk active ingredients and finished dosage pharmaceuticals. Plantex Ikapharm, now part of the Teva group of companies, was the first Israeli company to be inspected and approved by the FDA, during Dr. Zurr’s tenure. In the early eighties, Dr. Zurr served as the Director of Licensing at G.D. Searle in Skokie, Illinois where he was responsible for the major collaborative agreement between G.D. Searle and Meiji Seika Kaisha (Tokyo), involving the licensing of several drugs and recombinant DNA technology transfer, and numerous other agreements including those with Bayer AG (Leverkusen), Ono Pharmaceutical (Osaka) and May and Baker (London). Dr. Zurr received his M.Sc. at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and his Ph.D. from the Imperial College University of London under the guidance of the Nobel Laureate Professor D.H.R. Barton.

Tomomi Okamoto, Director. Senior Operating Officer & CTO of Trans-Science, Inc. Joined Trans-Science in April 2003. And since then, Okamoto is in charge of investing in biotech venture companies overseas. Okamoto has high experiences in marketing, business development and strategic planning in the life science industries. She is also as an agent for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and she supports creating alliances between companies in Pennsylvania and Japanese major companies. Previously, she was engaged in bioinformatics business planning at Fujitsu Group, after working at Toshiba R&D Center, and drug discovery at Nippon Steel Corporation Group. M.A.of Engineering in Material Science from Tsukuba University, Global Business Training Program in JAIMS,USA.

Howard T. Slayen, DirectorMr. Slayen is a member of our Board of Directors. Since 2001, Mr. Slayen has been providing independent financial consulting services to various organizations and clients of his. From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Slayen was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Quaartz Inc., a web-hosted communications business. From 1971 to 1999, Mr. Slayen held various positions with PricewaterhouseCoopers/Coopers & Lybrand, including his last position as a corporate finance partner. Mr. Slayen currently serves on the board of directors of Lantronix, Inc.
